Algeria awards Benzema Olympic Order of Merit

Real Madrid striker was honored at home

The Algerian Olympic Committee has decided to award Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema the Olympic Order of Merit.

The Committee explained in a statement that the members of its Executive Office unanimously agreed to award Benzema the Olympic Order of Merit

The Committee did not disclose the details of this matter, whether it was how Benzema was honored or when and where he was awarded the medal.

Although Benzema spent his life in France wearing the French national team shirt, he never concealed his attachment to the homeland of his parents and grandparents and hinted that he would like to play for the Algerian national team if he was allowed to do so by French Football Federation officials.

Benzema, despite his brilliance and continued to score goals with Real Madrid in La Liga and the Champions League, has been excluded from the French national team since 2015, and coach Didier Deschamps refuses to call him to the national team.

Noel Le Graet, president of the French Federation, has confirmed that Benzema's time with the French national team is over.

It is worth mentioning that the owner of Algerian origin began his football career with Lyon, where he climbed from the youth team of the first team in 2005, and led by his remarkable brilliance with the French team to move to the ranks of Real Madrid in the summer of 2009, and has been crowned with the team many titles league most notably and the Champions League 4 times.
