Deschamps sets the next position for Zidane

Will Zidane ever take this position?

Didier Deschamps, the French national team's coach, believes Zinedine Zidane is the most suitable person to succeed him in coaching the French national team.

"The next coach of the national team, I think it will be Zidane, he should take this position one day," Deschamps said in a press statement.

Zidane is Real Madrid's coach, in his second term after leading him to three Champions League titles in the first term.

When asked why Karim Benzema was excluded from the France squad, Deschamps said: "I have nothing to say about him, I am all concerned about the team's collective work, I am not interested in the court's decision."

The Real Madrid striker was long out of the squad for France after being charged in an extortion case that he was later acquitted of.

The French federation renewed confidence in the 51-year-old coach and extended his contract until the 2022 World Cup, which is hosted by Qatar.

Deschamps, who won the World Cup with France in 2018, was part of the squad that won the title in 1998.
