Barcelona and Real Madrid follow Marcos Paulo, a teenage striker keen to move to Europe in the near future

Barcelona and Real Madrid follow Marcos Paulo

Fluminense teenager Marcos Paulo is being courted by both Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The highly-rated striker, whose current deal runs until 2021, won't sign a replacement contract with the club and this has alerted La Liga's top two clubs.

Jose Mari Bakero, the technical secretary of Barcelona's B team, traveled to Rio de Janeiro last summer and tabled a bid within the region of €5m (£4.2m), consistent with Spanish outlet Diario AS.

That was rejected by the Brazilian club, but the report also details that Madrid is conscious of Barcelona's intentions and is looking into rivaling any future bids for the player.

Zinedine Zidane's side has already lured youngsters Vinicius Junior and Rodrgyo Gomes from Brazil, and are reportedly on the brink of signing Reinier Jesus from Flamengo.

Another option for 18-year-old Paulo might be a move to at least one of the Red Bull clubs - Leipzig or Salzburg - in Europe, with sister club RB Bragantino seeing an €8m (£6.8m) for the player rejected by Fluminense.
