Zidane loses confidence in Marcelo

It seems that the Frenchman Zinedine Zidane, the coach of Real Madrid, is losing confidence in his left-back Marcelo. For his compatriot Ferland Mendy, who recently joined the Royal Club earlier this season.

Marcelo returned to the starting line-up for Real Madrid after a long absence, against Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabéu, which ended in a 2-1 victory for the Royal Club.

But the second real Madrid leader lived through one of his worst times at the Bernabéu, appeared at a poor technical level and received some whistles of disdain.

Mendy takes Marcelo's place in Real Madrid squad

According to The Marca newspaper, Zidane looked to his right and ordered Mendy to prepare for the descent, after scoring the second goal through Casemiro.

Zidane reacted directly with Mendy's descent to add defensive toughness in the remainder of the game.

Marcelo put in very poor performance, did not make any offensive addition as we used to, as was a clear weakness in defense, and allowed Luuk de Jong to score the equalizer.

At this stage, Zidane is more confident in Mendy at the left-back, and throughout the season Mendy has played in 13 games against 10 for Marcelo.
