Arteta comments on news of Odegaard joining Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expects to hear more information about the club's desire to sign Real Madrid's Martin Odegaard on Saturday evening.

Arsenal has decided to enter full strength in the contract race with Real Madrid's Martin Odegaard.

Odegaard returned to Real Madrid last summer, after a successful loan spell with Real Sociedad, which was scheduled to last for another year.

On this, Arteta denied that it had happened and an agreement was reached during the current time, as he confirmed that he did not know anything about it, but left the door open for a resolution within hours.

"I can't talk about any player who is not with us, we have a very clear idea of how to develop our players and what they need to do and we are working to improve on all sides," he said.

"All the decisions we make are to promote this development and try to give them the best possible opportunity, the winter transfer market will be an opportunity to add some touches of course."

"The fans may be wondering if things would have gone differently if captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang appeared against Southampton, where the captain was disqualified from the team shortly before the start of the match but we trust all our players."

"I may get an important call today about Odegaard, but so far I have nothing new to tell you, we are thinking about the next dates and we want to continue to improve."

The 22-year-old Odegaard has played for only 367 minutes this season, appearing in nine games, mostly as a substitute.
