According to the Spanish press, Karim Benzema will be available to Zinedine Zidane for the shock against Atletico Madrid.

Karim Benzema is recovering well from his injury and is expected to return to action for Real Madrid's game against Atletico Madrid on March 7.

The goal of the club and the player is for Benzema to be at Zinedine Zidane's disposal for the Madrid derby at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.

However, Real Madrid is not ruling out Benzema recovering in time for Monday's clash against Real Sociedad at Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.

With ten days left until Diego Simeone's side encounter and Los Blancos are unwilling to rush Benzema's return in order to avoid any risk of a potential setback. His return to action is the top priority for Real Madrid's medical staff as the team needs their first-choice striker for the matches against Atleti and Atalanta.

Benzema is Los Blancos' top scorer this season with 17 goals, followed by Casemiro, who has already scored six, one of which was decisive in the win against Real Valladolid last weekend.

The French striker didn't play against Atalanta, but this time it was compatriot Ferland Mendy who broke the deadlock with a thunderous right-footed strike to help Real Madrid secure a 1-0 victory.

Neither Marco Asensio nor Vinicius Junior has stepped forward in the last few games when Real Madrid needed their attackers to replace Benzema in terms of goals scored. The Brazilian forward has not scored since October 21, while Asensio has only scored two goals in 30 games this season.

Mariano Diaz also didn't contribute, while Eden Hazard and Rodrygo Goes are both sidelined due to their respective injuries.

In fact, Zidane opted for Isco to be presented as a false nine against Atalanta, but the Spaniard hasn't hit the net for a year. Real Madrid, therefore, needs Benzema to return soon and it looks like they can count on him for the crucial game against Atletico.
