Real Madrid snatches a clean goal from Atalanta in the first leg of the Champions League.

Real Madrid won today against hosts Atalanta in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 without a goal.

The match started quietly between the two teams, and neither Real Madrid nor Atalanta had any serious changes in the first quarter of an hour.

Mario Pašalić received a direct red card after a strong intervention by Real Madrid's Ferland Mendy in front of the penalty area.

The first half saw Real Madrid take control after the red card, but it was negative without any real chances on the ground.

The only chance Real Madrid had was real in the last minute of the half, with a wonderful header from Casemiro.

At the start of the second half, Luka Modric hit a tricky ball that passed past the right-hand errant goalkeeper of Atalanta.

Vinicius Junior added a goal from inside the penalty area before Zidane took it out in the 57th minute and pushed Mariano Diaz.

Toni Kroos tried to change the reality of the game with a shot from long range in the 79th minute but to no avail and passed over the goal.

Mendy scored Real Madrid's first goal after suffering from a corner by Toni Kroos and passed to Luka Modric, who in turn passed to Mendy, who shot the ball superbly to the left of the goalkeeper in the 86th minute.

With this result, Real Madrid will win and enter the return match in March, which is 0-1 ahead.
