Return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real? Marcelo gives a hint!

Marcelo may have hinted at a possible reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo with an Instagram post.

Real Madrid full-back Marcelo has fueled new speculation about Cristiano Ronaldo's possible return to the Spanish club with his latest Instagram post.

As Spanish media revealed last week, Ronaldo's biggest wish is to return to the Bernabéu where he believes he has the best hope of winning another Champions League title before his impending retirement.

Despite an incredible goalscoring record, things did not go as smoothly as expected for the Portuguese with Juventus, who were knocked out of the Champions League by Porto last week - sending the former Madrid forward to a third-year consecutive disappointment in Europe since leaving the Spanish capital for Turin in the summer of 2018 for 100 million euros.

Speculation has plagued Ronaldo's future, with reports from Italy that Juventus are ready to sell this summer. However, the Serie A club has categorically denied any plans to let go of their 36-year-old talisman. Nonetheless, talks about Ronaldo's summer exit have not subsided.

Did Marcelo allude to a possible return of Ronaldo? Amid ongoing speculation, Merengue supporters are wondering if the Brazilian's latest Instagram post was intended to be a subtle hint of a possible reunion with his former teammate and close friend.

In response to a video posted on Instagram of the duo sharing a moment in Madrid accompanied by the message 'This Marcelo-Cristiano connection', the Blancos left-back wrote 'Soon'.

The Brazil international also released two emojis which were also left open for interpretation.

Of course, even if the post was meant to suggest the duo could be reunited, that doesn't necessarily mean it would happen in Madrid. Given that Marcelo is a prime target for Juventus and is in disgrace at the Bernabéu, it cannot be ruled out that the pair's possible reunion could take place in Turin.
