John Barnes believes the Real Defender would be the perfect recruit for the Liverpool Reds.

Raphael Varane will not be short of suitors if he decides to leave Real Madrid this summer.

While his extension is still pending, the future of the French central defender is a topic of conversation among the biggest clubs in world football, including several in the Premier League.

Manchester United tried to convince Varane a few months ago to strengthen the defense at Old Trafford but failed.

And now it was John Barnes, a former Liverpool player, who advised the Reds to opt for the French international defender.

"Varane would be a fantastic signing for Liverpool," Barnes told BonusCodeBets with a lot of attention on the Reds' injuries in defense.

'He's fast, he's a good defender and excellent on the ball, so he would suit the way Liverpool plays, and that Liverpool sign him would be a fantastic deal. He would strengthen any team in the Premier League, but if he leaves Real Madrid, there will be a lot of interested teams and a lot of competition to sign him."

In addition to the potential defensive additions, Barnes also assessed the offensive strength of Jurgen Klopp's team.

"Mbappé and Haaland are the answer to Liverpool's problems, but they would also be great for Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and all the best teams in Europe."

"Offensive players are not Liverpool's immediate priority as they have Mané, Salah, and Firmino, who are fantastic players and the club is one of the most prolific teams in the league while playing brilliant attacking football. However, considering the age of the three players mentioned, they must be replaced in the long term, but for the immediate future, Mbappé and Haaland are not players who could come unless things change with one of the three strikers."
